Maple Leaf Power’s service area in the Kootenay region consists of 2360km of overhead distribution line, and 1000km of transmission line. Crews perform new construction and maintenance on overhead and underground distribution as well as responding to unplanned power outages. This large, geographically diverse service area of extensive power systems presents significant complexities and challenges.

Weather changes throughout the British Columbia seasons present additional complexities and challenges. Heavy snowfall throughout the winter, and the resulting spring thaw and mud, force Maple Leaf Power to utilize a range of equipment. Tracked machinery, snowmobiles, and side by sides allow Maple Leaf Power to gain access to otherwise inaccessible sites more efficiently than hiking/climbing, decreasing work times, and increasing manpower utilization.

Duties of these managers also include daily interactions with the utility, building and property security, receiving, storing, and returning Fortis BC materials, recycling, and the submittal of completed work and quality assurance packages.
